Apologies for the n00b question but out of interest when they say #8216;unpublished#8217; do they mean unpublished which would include self published ebooks? And if you were to submit something previously published on Kindle or Smashwords or the like could you take it down for a period and design, still be considered? I#8217;d check the help saxons hoo, specific guidelines for each contest. Some specify whether situations like self-publication are acceptable or not. If the guidelines don#8217;t go into any detail on design that, you could always try contacting the organization sponsoring the contest.
